ZAWCAD TECHNOLOGY

ZAWCAD TECHNOLOGY received R&D Magazine’s 100 award for its ZAWCAD (Zero Added Waste Cutting, Abrading and Drilling) technology. As part of the U.S. government initiative to transfer cogent technologies to the private sector, ZawTech International Inc, through the government’s transfer agency, acquired exclusive, national licenses for the manufacture and sales of the patented ZAWCAD technologies (including first right of refusal for over 200 countries). ZawCAD’s proven capabilities address nuclear waste remediation, military decommissioning and decontamination, and other hazardous clean up issues, by not adding additional waste to the clean up process. These technologies are the Cryogenic ZAWCAD and the Laser ZAWCAD. These Technologies have been sublicensed to Eagle Environmental Technologies, Ltd., for worldwide markets.

The Cryogenic ZawCAD uses high-velocity jets of liquefied and solidified atmospheric gases, such as low temperature nitrogen; to address surface coating removal and hazardous waste clean up without adding to the waste stream. The nitrogen quickly reverts to an inert gas, taking none of the contaminated particulate with it.
Traditional solutions for removing contaminated or unwanted surface coatings involved grinding the surface with abrasives or chemically treating the surface with solvents or acids to lift the surface coating for scraping. EPA and OSHA restrictions on solvents and acids have forced modern industry to turn increasingly to two alternatives: (1) sandblasting, or other pneumatically driven particulate, and (2) water jetting. When cleaning an exposed area with these typical materials, they also become contaminated as they come into contact with the contaminated surface. Thus, these conventional cleanup efforts add volume to the waste stream and, in hazardous situations, require additional treatment of the material used in the cleaning or cutting process. The Cryogenic ZawCAD system prevents a secondary waste.

The Cryogenic ZawCAD system consists of a highly evaporative fluid supply, high pressurization, precision nozzle and process control. Low temperature nitrogen offers the most promising, cost-effective fluid solution, but other gases may well have specific roles. Advantages of the Cryogenic ZawCAD system are:

• Liquid nitrogen does not create a secondary waste stream and leaves only the hazardous material as a residue;

• Nitrogen is relatively cheap (comprising 78% of our atmosphere) and is available everywhere, and;

• Nitrogen is extremely safe, posing no hazard of explosion, fire or oxidation reaction.

By controlling fluid pressure, volume, the process distance from the material being treated, the speed and angle of movement across the treated surface, and the number and type of nozzles, cryogenic cleaning and cutting is performed with great control and consistent results. With its speed and efficiency, a commercially viable, real world solution to many industrial problems has been developed.
Eagle, with the ZawCAD Technology has every ingredient for success:

• Proprietary technologies which address critical, unmet environmental, safety and processing/manufacturing needs,

• An unusual number of valid applications for its technologies which furnishes a broad and diverse base of industrial and governmental customers,

• Product patents

• Low manufacturing cost.
